Sleaford Town return to action this Tuesday night with a local derby against Harrowby United at The JRL Brickwork Stadium in the United Counties League Premier Division North.
Following Saturday’s narrow 2-1 defeat to A.F.C. Mansfield, the Greens are eager to bounce back and return to winning ways. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the game, with Ben Robson expertly converting to give Sleaford the lead. Manager Matt Evans will no doubt be keen to build on the promising performances in recent games, with the squad showing they can compete against tough opposition and create plenty of scoring opportunities.
For Sleaford, there will be a few missing players. These include Tom Waumsley, who is still not fully fit, and Jake Henderson, who remains unavailable for selection. Joe Wilkinson will also miss out as he is away on holiday. However, there is some positive news as new loanee from Grantham, Harry Gibbons, will get his first opportunity to be included in the squad. Meanwhile, Tyrell Shannon-Lewis will be keen to make amends after missing a penalty in the previous game against A.F.C. Mansfield.
Sleaford currently sit 10th in the league on 19 points, while Harrowby United trail just behind in 13th with 16 points. With only three points separating the two teams, this game presents a key opportunity for both sides to make a leap up the table. Sleaford’s recent performances have been full of hard work and determination, and with the addition of new signings strengthening the squad, the club is certainly moving in the right direction. Now, it’s about turning those good performances into results.
Harrowby United, on their home turf at The JRL Brickwork Stadium, have had a mixed run of form in recent weeks. A 1-1 draw against Barton Town in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy, followed by a penalty shootout loss, and a 2-2 cup draw with Skegness Town add to their recent fixtures. However, their 2-1 league win against Gresley Rovers and a dominant 5-0 victory over the Green's previous opponents A.F.C. Mansfield show they are more than capable of causing an upset.
Matt Evans and his team will be looking to convert their hard work into a much-needed victory. The support of the travelling Green Army could make all the difference as the team seeks to build momentum and climb the league table.
Kick-off is at 7:45 PM at The JRL Brickwork Stadium, Dickens Road, Grantham, NG31 9QY. Current admission prices for the 2024/25 season are as follows: Adults £7, Concessions £6, and Children Under 16 FREE. The club cafe will be open serving hot food and drinks, along with a matchday programme and the 50/50 draw.
Come along and back the lads as they push for three points!
